Lodole Country House Monzuno

Lodole Country House is a labour of love. It took love to renovate and restore this traditional 17C cottage and rekindle its original glow of hospitality. Warm, cosy rooms, a spacious lounge with an open fireplace, raftered ceilings, original stone walls and floor, the Lodole cottage has all the charm of tradition. Situated on a hill inside the boundaries of the Molino del Pero Golf Club (on the Savena valley road in the Monzuno Municipality, about 35 minutes from Bologna) the cottage overlooks one of the most beautiful valleys in the Tusco-Emilian Apennines.

A magical environment where you can live and breathe an atmosphere of bygone times and feel part of the family.

A few years ago Alice and Daniele fell in love with this place and bought what was at the time little more than a ruin. They then transformed it into an informal yet exclusive Country House with a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and a friendly welcome offering top quality service. The Lodole Country House is private, comfortable and very special indeed, and of course right next to all the Molino del Pero Golf Club facilities.

The lounge and the delightful portico complete the picture. 

Lodole Country House is also in a highly strategic geographical location and is certainly the ideal place for rediscovering simple pleasures such as chatting in front of an open fire, reading a book, going for a walk or a mountain bike ride, sampling local farm products, visiting museums, archaeological sites or old watermills, playing golf or one of the many other options on offer.

The alternative is to simply take things easy … far from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Lodole Country House has 6 double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms have been immaculately furnished in traditional style and great care has been taken over every detail. Each room has a different colour and décor, reflected in its name: Alba, Sole, Cielo, Stelle, Tramonto and Luna (Dawn, Sun, Sky, Star, Dusk and Moon).

The establishment is run with great enthusiasm and love by Alice who also prepares the extraordinary breakfasts!

There are numerous lunch and dinner options to choose from, including local specialities at the Golf Club restaurant or one of the many nearby restaurant or trattorias that offer special prices to Lodole guests.

RECOMMENDED ROUTE FROM THE A1/A13/A14 MOTORWAYS: Leave the A1 motorway at the Rioveggio exit. After the tollgate turn left following the signs for Monzuno/Loiano. After about 400m turn left again, once more following the signs for Monzuno/Loiano. When you reach the centre of Monzuno (about 8km from the motorway exit) continue towards Loiano (the sign is about 400m from the centre of Monzuno), and after 2.1km you will come to Borgo Lodole on your left. Turn left and after 100m you will reach the upper part of the village and the Lodole Bed & Breakfast. (The Lodole Bed & Breakfast is about 10.5km from the motorway exit and the journey should take about 15 minutes).

RECOMMENDED ROUTE FROM BOLOGNA (EAST): Drive out of Bologna along the Via Toscana. As soon as you have passed through the centre of the suburb of Rastignano, turn right into Via A. De Gasperi. Continue for about 100m and when you come to a crossroads turn left. You are now on the Fondovalle Savena (Savena valley road - SP 65), so continue straight along it for about 22km until you come to a junction. Turn right at the junction, following the signs for Monzuno, and after 1.1km you will come to Borgo Lodole on your right. Turn right and after 100m you will reach the upper part of the village and the Lodole Bed & Breakfast.

RECOMMENDED ROUTE FROM BOLOGNA (WEST): From Casalecchio di Reno take the Porrettana road towards Sasso Marconi. Drive through Sasso Marconi and then turn left towards Rioveggio/Castiglione dei Pepoli. Drive through the Cinque Cerri village, and after 4.3km turn left following the signs for Monzuno. Continue for about 9km. Until you reach Monzuno. When you reach the centre of Monzuno continue towards Loiano (the sign is about 400m from the centre of Monzuno), and after 2.1km you will come to Borgo Lodole on your left. Turn left and after 100m you will reach the upper part of the village and the Lodole Bed & Breakfast.
